Centre Manager and Outdoor Education Instructor
Ed is currently the longest serving member of the Oxenwood team, starting his journey at the Centre in the autumn of 2000, as a junior volunteer instructor. Ed’s interests include being outdoors, hiking, bushcraft, mountain biking, paddling and surfing. Ed is also passionate about ancient history, which he applies as our lead instructor for our History Curriculum Enrichment Days.
Mo
Deputy Centre Manager and Outdoor Education Instructor
Mo qualified as an outdoor instructor in 2007 while serving as an Infantryman in the British Army. On leaving the forces in 2018, he worked for various organisations and centres as a freelance instructor, fully enjoying the ‘nomadic freelancer’ lifestyle before joining the Oxenwood team in late July 2023. A Mountain Leader and Rock-Climbing Instructor, Mo is happiest while in the mountains of the Brecon Beacons or Snowdonia leading groups and developing people’s outdoor skills. Mo has guided the West Highland Way, the National 3 peak challenge and led a group walking the ‘path of the gods’ on Italy’s Amalfi coast whilst serving as a Joint Services Mountain Expedition Leader.
Lastly, Mo considers himself an ‘enthusiastic amateur’ Gravel biker!

Freelance Team
Like all outdoor centres Oxenwood utilises freelance members of staff during the season to ensure we have the best of current and competent instructors. These freelancers have experienced various centres and roles and therefore really are at the top of their game regarding session delivery. We do have a dedicated freelance team so chances are you would have seen one or two faces before on your visits!
Oxenwood Staff come from all backgrounds and locations all over the UK but what is important to us is they are all outdoor professionals and all at the very top level of instructing. All members of the freelance team hold enhanced Disclosure and Barring service checks, qualifications in their respective disciplines and hold the relevant Outdoor First Aid qualifications to ensure safe and enjoyable training.
